Detailed Itinerary

D1 Arrival in Kathmandu
Land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, where the air is thick with the scent of incense and adventure. Transfer to your hotel in the bustling Thamel district, a maze of trekking shops, bakeries, and prayer flag-draped alleys. In the evening, meet your guide for a detailed trek briefing over a warming dinner of dal bhat — Nepal's nourishing staple of lentil soup, rice, and vegetable curry. Travel tip: altitude sickness is real; drink plenty of water, walk slowly, and listen to your body at all times.
D2 Kathmandu Valley
Explore the Kathmandu Valley's UNESCO treasures on a full-day tour. Start at Swayambhunath, the iconic Monkey Temple perched on a hilltop with panoramic views of the sprawling city below and prayer flags snapping in the breeze. Continue to Patan Durbar Square, a medieval plaza of intricately carved temples, palaces, and courtyards, then end at Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world, where monks in maroon robes walk kora alongside pilgrims spinning prayer wheels. Return to Thamel for last-minute trekking supplies and an early night.
D3 Fly to Lukla & Trek to Phakding
Board the spectacular mountain flight to Lukla, landing on a runway carved into a mountainside — one of the world's most dramatic airport approaches. Meet your porter crew and begin your trek with a gentle walk through pine forests and past mani walls carved with Buddhist prayers to the riverside settlement of Phakding. The sound of the Dudh Koshi River accompanies you as you settle into your first tea house, sipping hot lemon ginger tea and watching the peaks catch the last light of the day.
D4 Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Tackle one of the trek's most rewarding days: cross the dizzying Hillary Suspension Bridge high above the Dudh Koshi gorge, then climb through pine and rhododendron forests as the first views of Everest appear on the horizon. Arrive at Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital nestled in a natural amphitheater of mountains. Share a hearty dal bhat with your trekking crew and marvel at the fact that you are now sleeping at 3,440 meters amid the highest peaks on Earth.
D5 Namche Acclimatization
Take a vital acclimatization day in Namche. Hike up to the Everest View Hotel, where the panorama of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam is served alongside a well-earned cup of tea. Visit the Sherpa Museum to learn about the extraordinary mountaineering culture of the people who call these high valleys home — their stories of climbing legends, yeti lore, and deep Buddhist faith. Return to Namche for the afternoon to rest, explore the Saturday market if timing allows, or browse shops selling yak-wool scarves.
D6 Namche to Tengboche
Trek from Namche to Tengboche, following a spectacular trail that contours high above the Dudh Koshi with increasingly magnificent mountain views. Arrive at Tengboche Monastery, perched at 3,860 meters with Everest as its backdrop — perhaps the most beautifully situated monastery in the world. In the afternoon, you may be permitted to observe the monks' chanting ceremony, a resonant, hypnotic ritual accompanied by horns and drums. At sunset, watch Everest and Ama Dablam turn gold and rose in the alpine glow.
D7 Tengboche to Namche
Wake at dawn to watch the first light strike Everest from outside Tengboche Monastery — a spiritual experience that needs no religious affiliation. After breakfast, begin the descent back to Namche Bazaar, your legs grateful for the downhill trail. Arrive in the afternoon with time to browse the bakeries, enjoy a hot shower, and reflect on the journey so far over a slab of apple pie — a Namche institution among trekkers.
D8 Namche to Lukla
Trace your steps from Namche back to Lukla, descending through forests alive with birdsong and crossing suspension bridges one last time. In the evening, gather with your guide and porter team for a farewell dinner — share stories, thank your crew with a traditional khata scarf, and savor the camaraderie forged on Himalayan trails. Your final night in the mountains is bittersweet, but the memories are forever.
D9 Fly to Kathmandu & Departure
Board your morning flight back to Kathmandu, the aerial views of the Himalayas a fitting farewell to the world's highest mountains. Transfer to Tribhuvan Airport for your onward flight, or spend extra days exploring the Kathmandu Valley — Patan, Bhaktapur, and the ancient city of Kirtipur all reward unhurried exploration. Namaste and safe travels.
