Detailed Itinerary

D1 Arrival in Kathmandu
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel in the lively Thamel district, a vibrant tangle of narrow streets lined with trekking shops, bookstores, and rooftop cafes. Spend the evening exploring at your own pace, perhaps climbing to a rooftop terrace for a cold Everest beer and views of the city's pagoda temples. Travel tip: traffic in Kathmandu can be chaotic — allow extra time for transfers and embrace the city's delightful disorder.
D2 Kathmandu to Chitwan
Depart Kathmandu after breakfast for the scenic five-to-six-hour drive to Chitwan National Park, descending from the Kathmandu Valley through river gorges and terraced hillsides into the subtropical Terai plains. After checking into your jungle lodge, visit a nearby Tharu village in the afternoon to meet the indigenous people of the Terai, learning about their distinctive culture and mud-walled homes decorated with hand-painted designs. In the evening, enjoy a lively Tharu cultural dance performance around a bonfire, complete with rhythmic stick dances and drumming.
D3 Chitwan Jungle Safari
Rise early for a full day of jungle adventures in Chitwan, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Asia's finest wildlife reserves. Morning brings a jeep safari deep into the park, where you may spot one-horned rhinoceroses wallowing in rivers, spotted deer grazing in grasslands, wild boar, and — with luck — the elusive Bengal tiger. After lunch, glide silently down the Rapti River in a traditional dugout canoe, watching gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles sun themselves on the banks. As dusk falls, join a naturalist guide for a nature walk through the buffer zone, where birdsong fills the twilight and fireflies begin to flicker.
D4 Chitwan to Kathmandu
Wake early for a bird-watching walk along the river — Chitwan is a paradise for birders, with over 500 species including kingfishers, hornbills, and the endangered Bengal florican. After breakfast, bid farewell to the jungle and drive back to Kathmandu, arriving in the evening. Gather for a farewell dinner of dal bhat and momos at a traditional Nepali restaurant, reflecting on the extraordinary contrast between temple city and teeming jungle in just five short days.
D5 Departure
Enjoy a final Nepali breakfast of warm sel roti and chiya before your transfer to Tribhuvan Airport. Look back on five extraordinary days: the all-seeing eyes of Swayambhunath gazing over the Kathmandu Valley, the breathtaking Himalayan panorama from Nagarkot at sunrise, and the thrill of tracking one-horned rhinos through Chitwan's golden grasslands. Pick up prayer flags, singing bowls, or Himalayan tea as souvenirs of this diverse and beautiful land. Namaste — the divine in me greets the divine in you, and Nepal will always welcome you back.
