Detailed Itinerary
D1 Arrival in Bali
Welcome to the Island of the Gods! Touch down at Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, where your guide greets you with a fragrant frangipani lei and a warm smile. Transfer through the lush green landscape of terraced rice paddies and stone temple gates to Ubud, Bali's cultural heart. After checking into your hotel, the evening is yours to settle in and absorb the island's serene energy. Take a gentle walk through Ubud's compact center: browse art galleries, peek into yoga studios, and catch the distant sound of gamelan music drifting from a temple. For dinner, try nasi campur — a fragrant mixed plate of spiced chicken, vegetables, sambal, and rice — at a family-run warung, or treat yourself to crispy bebek goreng (Balinese fried duck), a Ubud specialty. Tip: Ubud's sidewalks can be uneven after dark — bring a small flashlight or phone light for evening walks.
D2 Ubud Exploration
Begin your Balinese journey at the Tegallalang Rice Terraces, where emerald-green stepped paddies follow the contours of a deep valley, irrigated by the subak system recognized by UNESCO. Walk the narrow paths between paddies and photograph the iconic palm-fringed vista, arriving early enough to avoid the midday heat. Continue to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, a mystical jungle temple complex where troops of Balinese long-tailed macaques roam freely through ancient banyan trees and mossy stone temples. Keep sunglasses and loose items secured! For lunch, enjoy babi guling, Bali's legendary spit-roasted suckling pig seasoned with turmeric and spices, at a local warung. In the afternoon, visit Ubud Palace, the royal residence in the center of town with its ornate stone gates and courtyards. Then surrender to a traditional Balinese massage: long, flowing strokes and acupressure techniques ease every knot and prepare you for the adventures ahead. The evening is free to explore Ubud's restaurant scene. Tip: at the monkey forest, don't bring food or shiny objects — the monkeys are charming but expert pickpockets.
D3 Bali Temples
After breakfast, journey west to Tanah Lot, one of Bali's most iconic sea temples, perched dramatically on a wave-lashed rock outcrop that becomes an island at high tide. Walk the shore for classic photographs and explore the cliffside shrine, where a holy snake guards a cave at the base. For lunch, enjoy grilled seafood at a cliffside restaurant with a view of the temple and crashing surf below. Continue south to the Bukit Peninsula and visit Uluwatu Temple, perched 70 meters above the Indian Ocean on a sheer limestone cliff — the setting alone is breathtaking. Wander the cliff path keeping an eye out for the resident macaques (more brazen than their Ubud cousins). As sunset approaches, take your seat in an open-air amphitheater for the Kecak fire dance: dozens of bare-chested men in checkered sarongs chant a hypnotic "cak-cak-cak" chorus as scenes from the Ramayana unfold, culminating with a fire-kicking finale against a backdrop of the blazing orange sunset over the sea. Drive back to Ubud in the cool evening. Tip: the cliff path at Uluwatu has no railings in places — stay well back from the edge, especially when maneuvering for photos.
D4 Fly to Labuan Bajo
Bid farewell to Bali for now and board a morning flight eastward to Labuan Bajo, the gateway town on the island of Flores. The flight itself is a visual treat — the turquoise waters and scattered islands of the Komodo archipelago slowly appear below. After checking into your hotel, spend the afternoon exploring Labuan Bajo, a charming fishing port that has blossomed into a lively base for Komodo adventures. Walk along the waterfront, browse the local fish market, and enjoy the slower Flores pace. For lunch, try freshly caught grilled ikan (fish) with sambal and rice at a seaside warung. In the late afternoon, drive up to a hilltop viewpoint for sunset over the harbor and the countless green islands dotting the sea — a stunning panorama that hints at the wonders ahead. Enjoy dinner at the bustling night market, where fresh seafood is grilled to order and served with cold Bintang beer. Tip: stock up on motion sickness tablets tonight — the boat trips through Komodo National Park can be choppy.
D5 Komodo — Dragons & Pink Beach
Board a boat early and cross the waters of the Komodo National Park to Komodo Island, the realm of the world's largest lizard. Accompanied by an expert park ranger carrying a forked stick, trek through the dry, sparsely forested landscape, eyes scanning for movement. The moment you spot your first Komodo dragon — a three-meter giant ambling across the trail or basking in the dappled shade — is electrifying. Learn about their venomous bite, their hunting strategies, and the conservation efforts protecting these last surviving ancient monitor lizards. After the trek, cool off with a swim and snorkel at the breathtaking Pink Beach (Pantai Merah), one of only a handful of pink sand beaches in the world — the rosy hue comes from crushed red coral mixed with white sand. Snorkel the shallow reef, where clownfish, angelfish, and colorful corals thrive just meters from shore. A boat lunch of grilled fish and nasi goreng is served on deck before returning to Labuan Bajo. Tip: stay close to your ranger at all times on Komodo Island — dragons may look sluggish but can sprint faster than a human.
D6 Padar Island & Mantas
Rise before dawn and set sail for Padar Island, one of Indonesia's most photographed viewpoints. Hike 30 minutes up the steep trail in the cool, pre-dawn dark, arriving at the summit just as the sky ignites. The reward: a 360-degree panorama of Padar's dramatic jagged ridges plunging into turquoise sea, with three crescent bays in different shades of blue and green fanning out below. After descending and breakfast on the boat, cruise to Manta Point, a swirling current zone where majestic manta rays — some with wingspans over four meters — glide gracefully through the deep. Slip into the water and watch these gentle giants barrel-roll and sweep past you in the current, an experience that borders on the spiritual. After snorkeling with the mantas, enjoy a boat lunch and spend the afternoon snorkeling at additional spots. As evening approaches, anchor in a sheltered cove and sleep on the liveaboard, rocked by gentle waves under a canopy of Southern Hemisphere stars. Tip: the Padar hike involves steep stone steps — a headlamp for the pre-dawn climb is essential.
D7 Komodo to Bali
Wake to the gentle lapping of waves and enjoy a light breakfast on deck as the boat cruises to Kanawa Island, a tiny white-sand gem in the Komodo archipelago. The snorkeling here is among the best in the park: pristine coral gardens teem with lionfish, sea turtles, moray eels, and clouds of anthias in brilliant orange and purple. Spend a blissful morning drifting over the reef before a final onboard lunch. Return to Labuan Bajo and transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight back to Bali. Arrive in Seminyak, Bali's chic coastal town, and check into your hotel. The evening is yours to unwind — stroll the long, sandy Seminyak Beach as the sun sets, then explore the town's celebrated dining scene. Treat yourself to a meal at one of Seminyak's acclaimed restaurants, toasting to dragons, mantas, and pink beaches. Tip: Kanawa Island has a small entrance fee payable in cash — bring rupiah as there are no ATMs.
D8 Bali Beach Day
Today is entirely yours to enjoy Bali at your own pace. Learn to surf on Seminyak's consistent beach breaks with a morning lesson — the waves here are forgiving for beginners. Browse the boutiques along Jalan Kayu Aya and Jalan Raya Seminyak, where Bali's creative spirit shines in fashion, homewares, and artisan jewelry. Head to a beach club for an afternoon of poolside relaxation with a coconut or cold Bintang in hand, DJ beats setting the tempo as the sun arcs overhead. For lunch, sample the global food scene — from authentic wood-fired pizza to creative plant-based cuisine, Seminyak delivers. As the day slides into evening, find a spot at one of the popular sunset beach bars where beanbags on the sand and a frosty drink provide the perfect ending to a day of pure Bali bliss. Tip: book your beach club daybed in advance during high season — the best spots fill up by late morning.
D9 Uluwatu & Jimbaran
Begin the day at Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park, home to one of the world's tallest statues — the colossal 121-meter-tall Garuda Wisnu Kencana depicting the Hindu god Vishnu riding the mythical bird Garuda. The scale is staggering and the views from the park across southern Bali are sweeping. Continue to Padang Padang Beach, a stunning cove of white sand and turquoise water accessed through a narrow rock cleft. Swim, sunbathe, or watch surfers tackle the reef break. For lunch, enjoy nasi goreng or fresh coconut water at a cliffside warung. In the late afternoon, your final Bali sunset calls: drive to Jimbaran Bay, where dozens of seafood cafes line the sand. Pick your lobster, prawns, and fish fresh from the display, then sit at a candlelit table with your toes in the sand as the sun sinks into the Indian Ocean. Your farewell dinner is a feast of grilled seafood, garlic butter, and sambal, accompanied by the gentle lap of waves. Raise a glass to ten extraordinary days across Indonesia. Tip: at Jimbaran, the seafood is priced by weight — agree on the price before the fish hits the grill.
D10 Departure
After a final tropical breakfast of fresh papaya, Balinese coffee, and perhaps one last swim in the hotel pool, your guide escorts you to Ngurah Rai Airport. As your plane climbs, watch Bali's green volcanic spine, terraced hillsides, and turquoise fringing reefs recede below. Ten days have spanned from Ubud's temple-filled jungles to the ancient dragons of Komodo, from pink sand beaches to manta rays gliding through deep blue currents. The aromas of incense and frangipani, the rhythm of gamelan, and the warmth of Balinese smiles travel with you. Sampai jumpa — until we meet again, on this island or the next.
